Lady Bucs land four players on Big 10 All-Conference Softball Team

TENNERTON – The Buckhannon-Upshur Lady Bucs recently placed four players on the 2023 Big 10 All-Conference Softball Team.

Jansen Kimble was named to the First Team while Taylor Spratt, Alyssa Abel and Kailey Hart were named to the Second Team.

Kimble, a junior was named to the First Team as a pitcher, posted a 6-8 record with an earned-run-average of 4.68. She threw a team-high 71 2/3 innings and struck out 61.

At the plate, Kimble was second on the team with a .359 batting average. She collected 23 hits in 64 at bats with four doubles, one triple while knocking in 13 runs.

Spratt, a sophomore, earned Second Team honors as an infielder.

She was third on the team in hitting with a .344 average with 22 hits in 64 at bats. She had seven doubles, one trip and knocked in 16 runs.

Abel, a sophomore, was selected to the Second Team as an outfielder.

She led the Lady Bucs in offense with a .463 average getting 31 hits in 67 at bats with 13 extra base hits (eight doubles, two triples, three home runs). She scored a team-best 27 runs was second on the team in runs-batted-in with 18.

Hart, a sophomore, was selected to the Second Team as a Utility Player.

She hit .317 with 20 hits in 63 at bats with five doubles, two triples and one home run while knocking in a team-best 19 runs.

In the circle, she compiled a 4-3 record with an earned-run-average of 4.73 in 37 innings of work.

Lincoln, which won the Big 10 regular season title, had their coach Yancey Weaver named as Coach of the Year and Delaney Haller as Player of the Year.

Philip Barbour’s Avery McDaniel was selected as Pitcher of the Year.
