Lady Buc swimmers lose dual outing to George Washington

BUCKHANNON – The Buckhannon-Upshur Lady Buc swimmers won six of 11 events but wound up dropping a dual meet with the visiting George Washington Patriots last week at the West Virginia Wesleyan College pool.

The Lady Bucs won four individual events and claimed two relay races, but lost a 78-61 decision.

Cadence Vincent won two of the individual races taking the 100-yard butterfly (58.66) and the 100-yard backstroke (59.17).

Alayna Whitehair also won two events winning the 50-yard freestyle (27.15) and the 100-yard freestyle (59.22).

The two victorious relay teams were Rylee Yardley, Whitehair, Vincent and Lillian Fetty in the 200-yard medley relay (2:05.16) and that same foursome in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:53.29).

The Lady Bucs were slated to compete in the Mohawk Invitational this past Saturday.

They will be back in the pool Wednesday in a dual meet with Elkins at Davis & Elkins College.
