Lady Buc swimmers claim five events in road event with Elkins

ELKINS – Cadence Vincent and Alayna Whitehair each won two individual events for the Buckhannon-Upshur Lady Bucs in a dual swim outing with the Elkins Tigers Wednesday evening at the Davis & Elkins College pool.

Vincent won the 200-yard freestyle (1:56.01) and the 100-yard butterfly (58.78).

Whitehair took first in the 200-yard IM (2:22.72) and the 100-yard backstroke (1:03.43).

The relay team of Whitehair, Rylee Yardley, Lillian Fetty and Vincent also won a first place in the 200-yard freestyle (1:55.96).

Because of their lack of depth on the roster, the Lady Bucs were only able to compete in nine of the 11 events.

They wound up dropping an 88-63 decision to the Tigers.

“Our end score really does not show how good our swimmers are,” stated Buckhannon-Upshur head coach Jenny Bennett. “Our team is small in size with only 12 swimmers combined.”

The Lady Bucs will be back in action next Saturday in the Berkeley County Invitational at Shepherd Invitational.
