Lady Buc basketball program to sponsor “Pink Out” game Feb. 10 against Grafton

Meet Buckhannon-Upshur senior Becca Pastorius, a four-year softball and volleyball player featured in Raising the Jolly Roger With. She shares her love of music, appreciation for community support and plans to become a physical therapist.

Buckhannon-Upshur’s JV Bucs fell 8–0 to Lewis County in a defensive slugfest Monday, with their final drive stopped at the six-yard line. The Bucs are now 2–2, and next Monday’s game with East Fairmont was canceled.

Buckhannon-Upshur moved up one spot to 15th in the Class AAAA WVSSAC playoff ratings after a 20-0 win over Lewis County. With the top 16 qualifying for the postseason, the Bucs host East Fairmont Friday at 7 p.m.

Medicare open enrollment runs Oct. 15 to Dec. 7, and local independent insurance agent Jeff Barnhart is offering appointments to help residents review their 2027 coverage options. He reviews plans one-on-one to provide the best options for clients.

The Little Lady Bucs powered through back-to-back road routs, beating West Fairmont 5–1 and blanking Liberty 6–0. Ali Triplett scored twice in each win as Buckhannon-Upshur Middle School improved to 7–2.

The Lewis-Upshur Animal Control Facility will hold its Subaru Loves Pets Adoption Event Oct. 17 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Adoptions will cost $25 for cats and $50 for dogs or puppies.
