Lacrosse Bucs win two this past week over Preston and Musselman

KINGWOOD – Following a 0-4 start to the season, the Buckhannon-Upshur lacrosse Buccaneers are on a roll after picking up a pair of victories this past week.

The Bucs downed Preston on the road by a 14-7 score last Tuesday then followed that up with a home win Saturday beating Musselman by a 9-7 score.

In the Preston win, the Bucs opened up a 5-1 lead after one quarter but the Knights tied it up at 6-6 at the half.

The Bucs took an 8-7 advantage going into the final quarter, which they dominated it blanking the Knights by a 6-0 score in the last stanza.

Clay Ware and Aidan Wilson led the Bucs in scoring with three goals apiece while Nathan Smith, Luke Bohnsack and Justin Streets each tallied two. Tucker Hatfield and Kaleb Roby each had one goal.

Bohnsack had a team-high 25 ground balls.

John Hayes made 15 saves in the victory for the Bucs.

In Saturday’s win, Wilson paced the team with three goals while Bohnsack collected two while Ware, Roby and Streets each had one. (One goal was not recorded in the stats).

Bohnsack led the team with 17 ground balls.

Hayes made 15 saves for the Bucs.

Buckhannon-Upshur will be back in action Wednesday visiting Morgantown for a 7 p.m. start.

They will return home Saturday hosting St. Albans in a noon start.
