Lacrosse Bucs taking winning streak to four with victories over Linsly and Capital

TENNERTON – The Buckhannon-Upshur lacrosse Bucs ran their winning streak to four with a pair of home wins last week.

They held off Linsly for a 9-8 win on Wednesday then they defeated Capital by an 8-2 score on Saturday.

The Bucs built a 6-2 led at the half and led 9-4 going into the fourth quarter against Linsly then held off the Cadets for the 9-8 win after getting outscored 4-0 in the final quarter.

Tucker Hatfield and Justin Streets paced the B-U offense with three goals each while Nathen Smith tallied two goals and Ranger Burgess had one.

The Bucs had 27 shots-on-goal.

Kaleb Roby led the team in ground balls with 16 while Smith had 11.

Kevin Bohnsack won five face-offs while Hatfield won his only one.

B-U keeper Remmy Bonnet turned away16 shots in the win.

Against Capital, Burgess paced the B-U attack with three goals while Bohnsack had two and Roby, Hatfield, and Smith one each.

The Bucs managed 34 shots-on-goal.

Roby led the team in ground balls with 12 while Burgess and Bohnsack had 11 each.

Bohnsack won 10 faceoffs while Kyle McCann won two.

Bonnett made 10 saves for the Bucs.

The pair of wins lifted the Bucs to 4-2 on the season.

They will be back in action Friday hosting Wheeling Park at 7 p.m.
