JV Bucs drop 77-25 decision to Huskies

RACHEL – With there two-week holiday break behind them, the Buckhannon-Upshur junior varsity Buccaneers came out flat in their 2024 debut on the road against the North Marion Huskies Friday evening.

The Bucs fell behind by 21 points after one quarter of play and never recovered en route to a 77-25 setback.

The loss dropped the Bucs to 2-3 on the year.

The opening quarter was B-U’s best offensive quarter of the game with eight points, getting five from Damion White, two from Seth Allen and one from Kaiden Marks. They trailed 27-8 after one quarter.

They were outscored in a much slower second quarter by a 9-4 margin with White and Marks each scoring a basket.

That left Buckhannon-Upshur down by a 36-12 score at the intermission.

B-U was outscored by a 20-7 margin in the third quarter with Jacob Frye scoring five points and Brody McDaniels getting two.

That left the Bucs down by a 56-19 score.

Allen, Jimmie Green and Xavier Robinette each put in a basket for the Bucs in the fourth quarter, which went to North Marion by a 21-6 count.

Maddox Batson led the Huskies with 21 points while Cole Morris added 10.

White led the B-U offense with seven points.

The Bucs will be back in action Wednesday hosting Grafton at 5:45 p.m.
