A juvenile has been arrested for murder in the Dec. 27 shooting of a woman in Ireland, W.Va., according to a press release from the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

“After an extensive investigation, the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office, with the assistance of the Mountain Lakes Drug and Violent Crime Task Force, the West Virginia State Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, has made an arrest in the death of Lewis County resident Beth Jordan,” the press release states. “A juvenile was taken into custody this afternoon (Jan. 27) by the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office and has been charged with murder in the first degree of Beth Jordan. The juvenile will be transported to a juvenile lockdown facility to await further court proceedings.”

According to a previous story, the Lewis County E911 Communication Center initially received a report of an unresponsive 36-year-old female from the Ireland-Wildcat area at 10:14 p.m. Monday, Dec. 27.

“As emergency crews responded, the Lewis County 911 [Center] received additional information of possible shots being fired at a residence located on Shoemaker Road,” a Dec. 28 press release said. “Law enforcement and EMS arrived on scene finding the female deceased inside the residence.”

During the on-scene investigation, police received a report indicating “an unknown subject had come to the resident at the time the shots were fired and fled the scene,” the release said.
