Joshua Hall reappointed as Milan Puskar Dean of WVU Chambers College

Joshua Hall has been reappointed to a second five-year term as Milan Puskar Dean of the West Virginia University John Chambers College of Business and Economics.

The reappointment follows an extensive review during the Spring 2026 semester in which faculty, staff, fellow deans, university administrators and members of the Chambers College Visiting Committee were invited to participate in a survey about Hall’s performance. He received positive ratings for performance and leadership and was commended for his “tireless work ethic” and “solution-oriented focus,” and praised as an “authentic, ethical and pragmatic” leader.

“Each day, our work at the Chambers College is focused on serving our students, our state and the larger business community by always evolving in ways that support high-impact learning and scholarship, rigorous and relevant research, and experiential education that actively engages our internal and external partners,” Hall said.

In his five years as Milan Puskar Dean, Hall’s tenure saw the college relocate to Reynolds Hall, earn accreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, and achieve consistent gains in student retention, enrollment and job placement. Business student retention grew to a record 86.7%, and the job placement rate for business majors at graduation reached 78.1% in May 2025 — an increase of 31% from a decade prior.

Hall, a WVU alumnus who earned his doctoral degree in economics from the Chambers College in 2007, returned to WVU in 2013 as an associate professor of economics. He previously served as associate dean for research and as chair of the Department of Economics before being appointed Milan Puskar Dean in 2021.

“All of my career experience led me to this position — at the helm of a growing and innovative business school that is preparing students for the careers of today and tomorrow,” Hall said.

Hall’s reappointment is effective July 1.
