James “Sonny” Elbon

James “Sonny” Elbon, 82, of Buckhannon, W.Va. died Sunday, June 7, 2020 at Louis A. Johnson V.A. Medical Center in Clarksburg, W.Va.

He was born January 8, 1938, in Harrison County, W.Va., a son of the late Ralph Junior and Minnie Carolyn Vangilder Elbon.

On December 5, 2008, he married Bertha Ann Nuzum who survives. Also surviving are, two sons, Steven Viers of Washington, DC and James Elbon and wife Katie of West Milford, W.Va.; one step-daughter, Kavrina Kelley and husband Dave of Buckhannon; one step-son, John Nuzum of Buckhannon; two grandsons, Caiden Elbon of Woodbridge, Va. and William Elbon of West Milford; four granddaughters, Erica Elbon of Norfolk, Va., Eryn Elbon of Woodbridge, Allison Elbon of Ocean City, Md. and Sophia Elbon of Woodbridge; one step-grandson, Jude Tenney of West Milford; one step-granddaughter, Iowa Wolfe of West Milford; one brother, Darrell Elbon of Alum Creek, W.Va. and two sisters, Susan Ours and husband Paul of Tennerton, W.Va. and Martha Krause of Charleston, W.Va.

Sonny was a water line installer and a member of the Sago Baptist Church in Sago, W.Va. He was also a member of the D.A.V. Chapter 36 in Buckhannon.

In honoring Sonny’s wishes, he will be cremated.
