Ilene Nixon

Ilene Nixon, 94, of Buckhannon, W.Va., died Monday, February 24, 2020 at Holbrook Health Care Center in Buckhannon.

She was born November 20, 1925, in Lewis County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Offa Wilburn and Ida Jane Simons Sheppard.

On June 3, 1945, she married Karl Gilbert Nixon who survives of Buckhannon.

Also surviving are one daughter, Linda Cerullo and husband Bordeno of Raleigh, N.C.; one son, Karl “Butch” James Nixon and wife Deborah of Jacksonville, Fla.; three granddaughters, Jennifer Parham of Raleigh, Natalie Kuhn and husband Walter of Charlotte, N.C. and Kelly Deluca and husband David of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.; two grandsons, Zackery Nixon of Jacksonville and Nicholas Cerullo and wife Kate of Wake Forest, N.C.; nine great-grandchildren and one brother, Dave Sheppard and wife Betty June of Buckhannon.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one brother, Lawrence Sheppard.

Mrs. Nixon was a homemaker and member of the Light Chapel Church in Buckhannon.

Friends will be received Friday, February 28, 2020 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Brandon Kelley officiating. Burial will follow in the Buckhannon Memorial Park in Buckhannon.
