‘How to get published’ writer’s workshop slated for March 11 in Buckhannon

BUCKHANNON — A special one-day “How to Get Published” writing workshop hosted by local author Sasha Hibbs will take place on Saturday, March 11, 2023, with sign-ins beginning at 11 a.m. at The Infamous Art Gallery (38 East Main Street Buckhannon, WV 26201).

In other words, it’s an afternoon full of advice designed to give you the best instruction concerning how to get your writing & books published.

Sasha will discuss publishing opportunities, how to write queries & pitches, how to market yourself and your books, what makes an agent/editor/reader stop reading your manuscript, and more. No matter what you’re writing — fiction or nonfiction — the course will help point you in the right direction. Writers of all genres are welcome. *Please note I write FICTION.*

  • Cost is $50 per person
  • Refreshments will be provided free (water, coffee, snacks).

100% of ALL funds will be donated toward the renovation of the historical United Brethren Church in Buckhannon, which will be the future home to The Infamous Art Collective/The Blaxxmith Shop/Pillage Sound and more.

  • Everything You Need to Know About Agents, Publishers, and Query Letters.
  • How to Market Yourself and Your Books: Talking Author Social Media, Blogging, and Platform.
  • Everything You Need to Know After You Get an Agent and Your Work is on Submission, and or a Publisher.

·         As a bonus, if you have a manuscript, I’ll provide a critique of the first chapter. I will also critique queries.

About your presenter:

Sasha Hibbs is the author of seven YA novels and two short stories published by Evernight Teen Publishing, the Vulcan LegaciesThe Boxer and the ButterflyNorthern PinesA Mad Awakening, is part of the Summer Crush Anthology—a USA Today recommended romance—and the Kissed Anthology. Most recently she was named and awarded Best Author 2022 in West Virginia Living Magazine. She’s also featured in Forward Magazine 2022. Her most recent novel, the first in a planned series—The Hanging Night—is co-authored with YA novelist, Christina Hooker, and currently on submission. Many of Sasha’s titles have hit the Amazon bestseller list in several countries. Sasha is a full-time mother and daytime registered nurse residing in rural West Virginia.

School bus crashes on Route 20 after hitting black ice; one child taken to hospital

A school bus carrying 25 students slid on black ice on Route 20 Wednesday morning and went off the road, according to Upshur County Sheriff Mike Coffman. All students were checked at the scene, and one child was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital with minor injuries.

Leadership Upshur is rallying volunteers and sponsors to help prepare a new children’s museum coming to Main Street in Buckhannon. The group has scheduled three workdays and is seeking donated supplies as painting and repairs get underway.
