CLARKSBURG — Fans of classic rock and psychedelic blues will have the opportunity to relive the music of one of rock’s most influential bands when Mojo Risin’ – Tribute to The Doors comes to the Robinson Grand Performing Arts Center on Friday, Aug. 21 at 7:30 p.m.

Based in Los Angeles, the city where The Doors first emerged from the Sunset Strip club scene of the 1960s, Mojo Risin’ has quickly established itself as one of the nation’s premier Doors tribute productions. The show faithfully recreates the sound, atmosphere and intensity of a live Doors concert, featuring iconic songs such as “Light My Fire,” “L.A. Woman,” “Roadhouse Blues,” “Break On Through,” “Love Me Two Times” and “Riders on the Storm.”

Rather than simply performing the music, Mojo Risin’ seeks to capture the spirit of a band that changed rock music forever. The production explores the blues, jazz, poetry and improvisation that made The Doors one of the most distinctive acts of their era while celebrating the charisma and mystery of frontman Jim Morrison.

Leading the band is vocalist John Nagle, whose uncanny resemblance to Morrison and remarkable vocal accuracy have earned praise from Doors fans across the country. Backed by guitarist Matt O’Neill, drummer Eric Nagle and a rotating cast of accomplished keyboardists portraying Ray Manzarek, the group recreates the musical chemistry that made The Doors a cultural phenomenon.

The band’s growing reputation recently drew national media attention during a sold-out Jim Morrison birthday celebration at the legendary Whisky a Go Go in West Hollywood, the same venue where The Doors first built their following nearly 60 years ago. Fans traveled from across the country to attend the performance, many praising Mojo Risin’ for capturing the energy and authenticity of the original band.

What began as informal jam sessions among friends during the pandemic has evolved into a nationally touring production with a devoted following. The band has become especially popular among both longtime Doors fans who experienced the music firsthand and younger generations discovering the band’s catalog for the first time.

“Our goal is to honor the music and the legacy of The Doors while giving audiences a chance to experience these songs performed live,” said Nagle. “The response has been incredible. Every night you see people singing every word, and it reminds you just how timeless this music really is.”

Tickets for Mojo Risin’ – Tribute to The Doors are $18 to $53 plus applicable fees and are available online at therobinsongrand.com, by phone at (855) 773-6283, or through the Robinson Grand box office.
