The Healthy Hero Hustle 5K Run/Walk and community health fair return to West Virginia Wesleyan College this Saturday, September 19, with a morning of activities for runners, walkers and visitors.
WVU Medicine St. Joseph’s Hospital and Wesleyan sponsor the event to promote healthy living, with race proceeds benefiting the Student Nurses of Wesleyan. Participants are encouraged to wear their favorite superhero gear.
The health fair runs from 9 a.m. to noon at Wesleyan’s fountain loop on Camden Avenue. It is free and open to everyone, with no registration required. Plans include 18 vendors, free face painting and Zul’s. The Zul’s are pay-what-you-can, cash-only, with donations supporting the student nurses.
Race-day registration and packet pickup begin at 9 a.m., followed by the 5K at 10 a.m. Awards are scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Appalachian Timing Group will time the race.
According to the race registration page, registration is closed Friday while organizers prepare race bibs, but participants can sign up at the event Saturday for $40. Children ages 5 and younger may participate for free.
Parking is available along nearby streets, at the Buckhannon River Walk and on the Wesleyan campus.
