KERENS – Elkins Raceway Budweiser Dirt Super Late Model driver Jacob Hawkins was all smiles in Victory Lane on Saturday night after a nail-biting Topless Fall Festival race.

The Fall Festival feature races at Elkins Raceway started with a bang, thanks to a colorful fireworks display during intermission to celebrate the last race of the 2023 season.

Following the FASTRAK Crate Late Model and UMP Modified feature races, Jimmy Henry, the Elkins Raceway track announcer, encouraged all fans in the grandstands to turn on their phone flashlights for a special one-lap presentation of the Super Late Model cars before the green flag officially dropped. Fans were proudly cheering on their favorite Super Late Model drivers as they slowly circled the 3/8 mile dirt track, four cars wide.

Each Budweiser Dirt Super Late Model driver was required to remove their roof to raise the stakes for a chance to win $3,000. All eyes were on the prize for the four remaining racing class as well, waiting for the chance to race for an increased payout.

After experiencing some damage to his car early in the Super Late Model 40-lap feature race, Hawkins fought his way back to first place. Hawkins’ eyes remained on that checkered flag and $3,000 check, thus, landing him a spot in Victory Lane on August 26.
