Have you seen the scarves hanging around town?

As the Upshur County residents awoke to a cold, snowy Friday morning, a group of West Virginia Wesleyan College students had a plan to help those in need keep warm.

Students from the Center for Community Engagement tied scarves of all patterns and colors to light posts in downtown Buckhannon.

Each scarf had a note: “I’m not lost! As winter comes and your cheeks get rosy, take a scarf to keep you cozy.”

The note was signed, “WVWC Religious Life Council, Student Athletic Advisory Committee and the Wesleyan students.”

Buckhannon mayor David McCauley recognized the gesture on Facebook.

“What an amazing kindness initiative exhibited by our kids just up the street,” McCauley wrote. “It really is their Home Among the Hills!”

If you can use a scarf, please take one and stay warm on these cold West Virginia days.
