Harold Ray “Moose” Murphy

Harold Ray “Moose” Murphy, 72, of Buckhannon, W.Va., died Sunday, January 5, 2020, at his home.

He was born May 16, 1947, in Upshur County, W.Va., a son of the late Emmett Ray and Clara Maxine Bennett Murphy.

On August 2, 1969, he married Linda Suder who survives of Buckhannon. Also surviving are one son, Bryon Murphy and wife Sheala of French Creek, W.Va.; one daughter, Crystal Russell and husband Brad of French Creek; two grandsons, Austin Russell and Cole Murphy both of French Creek; one granddaughter, Quinlyn Russell of French Creek; one brother, Robin Murphy and wife Tammy of French Creek; two sisters, Ronnetta Lantz of Buckhannon and Carolyn Rounds and husband George of Piedmont, Mo.; aunt, Della Mae McCleod of N.C.; several nieces, nephews, cousins and great niece and nephews and his beloved cat, Sparks.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Duane Murphy. Mr. Murphy enjoyed spending time outdoors, he was an avid hunter and loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of the Moose Lodge 598 in Buckhannon, a life member of both the North American Hunting Club and the NRA and a member of the Local 477. Mr. Murphy retired from Corhart Refractories as a machine operator in 1998 and was a Christian by Faith.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the charity of your choice in honor of “Moose” Murphy.

In honoring Mr. Murphy’s wishes, he will be cremated. A memorial service will be held Sunday, January 26, 2020 at 1 p.m. in the Moose Lodge 598 Dining Hall. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
