Hale “Dewayne” Lane

Hale “Dewayne” Lane, 81, of the Frenchton Community, departed this life on Sunday, December 8, 2019, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon.

He was born on March 22, 1938, in Upshur County, a son of the late Matthew Hale “Coonce” and Bernice B. Hull Lane.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one granddaughter Miranda Sargent; one brother James E. Lane; and two sisters:  Waunita Wilson and Dixie Hoover.

He is survived by one son Mark Sargent and wife Mona of Wardensville, W.Va.; one grandson Anthony Sargent of Morgantown; two sisters: Ann Brown of Buckhannon and Mary L. Brown of the Abbott Community; and several nieces and nephews whom he loved very much.

Dewayne loved listening to gospel and country music and enjoyed watching western movies. During his stay at Holbrooks on the Hill, he made many special friends, especially his roommate, Mark.

Dewayne was a very generous and kind person and he will be missed by many, especially his four-legged friend, “Charlie.” He was a Christian by faith.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 10, 2019, from noon to 2 p.m., the funeral hour, at the Heavner and Cutright Funeral Chapel with Pastor David Jessie officiating. Interment will follow in the Chestnut Flat Cemetery.

Online condolences may be extended to the Lane family at www.heavnerandcutright.com. The Lane family entrusted the Heavner and Cutright Funeral Chapel with the arrangements.
