Glenville State University has been awarded 2025–2026 Gold status as a Military Friendly School and ranked #1 Military Spouse Friendly School among small public institutions, recognizing its strong support for military members and families.

Glenville State University (GSU) Military and Family Support is proud to announce its designation as a 2025–2026 Military Friendly School, earning Gold status among small public institutions. Additionally, GSU has been ranked #1 Military Spouse Friendly School in the same category, placing in the Top Ten nationwide.

These prestigious honors underscore Glenville State University’s continued commitment to supporting military service members, veterans, and their families through accessible education, personalized support services, and active community engagement.

“Our goal has always been to create a welcoming and supportive environment where service members and families can thrive,” said Charles M. Yakubow II, Director of Military and Family Support. “These recognitions are a testament to the hard work of our staff, the dedication of our student veterans, and the strength of our community partnerships.”

The Military Friendly survey, conducted annually by VIQTORY, evaluates institutions based on a comprehensive set of criteria including academic policies and compliance, graduation and career outcomes, support services, and military spouse support. Achieving Gold status places GSU in the top tier of small public institutions nationwide for its exceptional dedication to veteran success.

What distinguishes GSU is its holistic and student-centered approach to military and family support. The university offers personalized academic advising, a dedicated VA Lounge and support office, an active Student Veterans Association, and a robust VA Work Study Program that fosters community service and student engagement.

The #1 ranking as a Military Spouse Friendly School highlights GSU’s focus on meeting the unique needs of military spouses—offering flexible course formats, career-readiness programming, and family-oriented support services.
