Gov. Justice to hold virtual town hall on plan to repeal state income tax Wednesday, Feb. 24 at 7 p.m.

Jean Osburn, 94, of Buckhannon, WV, died May 15, 2026, at Holbrook Healthcare Center. She was a homemaker and Sand Run Baptist Church member known for quilting, gardening, homemade bread, and caring for others.

Paul B. Smith, 57, of French Creek, WV, died May 17, 2026, at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown after a motorcycle accident. He was the owner of Paul’s Collision Repair and a devoted grandfather.

Verna Mae Pratt, 88, of Buckhannon, WV, died May 16, 2026, at Crestview Manor in Jane Lew, WV. She was a caregiver and is survived by family and friends.

West Virginia’s 55 counties began canvassing the May 12 primary on Monday, reviewing returns plus absentee and provisional ballots and auditing at least 3% of precincts by hand.

Buckhannon police arrested a 25-year-old man on a charge of unlawful assault after a reported fight at the K Lounge at about 3 a.m. Sunday. Authorities say the man punched the victim in the head, knocking him unconscious.
