Garnett Hinkle

Garnett Hinkle, 95, of Buckhannon, W.Va., died Thursday, December 31, 2020 at home.

She was born October 4, 1925, in Crawford, W.Va., a daughter of the late Ford and Armatha Steerman Beverage. On August 12, 1944, she married Gerald Phillips Hinkle who preceded her in death on February 28, 2013.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two daughters, Carolyn Blosser and Judy Jarrett; three sisters, Mildred Ogden, Nellie Howell and Ruth Castro, and two brothers, Blaine and George Beverage.

She is survived by one granddaughter, Erin Blosser of Taylorsville, N.C.; four grandsons, Jerod Harman and Tracy Bowser of Buckhannon, Jon Gay and wife Cindy of Frenchton, W.Va., Trenton Gum and Stephanie Young of Morgantown, W.Va. and Seth Gum and wife Lisa of N.C.; four great-granddaughters, Kendra Page and husband Daniel and Kari Gay all of Frenchton, W.Va., Sadie and Saylor Blosser both of Taylorsville; two great-grandsons, Levi Gay of Frenchton and Wyatt Gum of Fla., and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Hinkle was a member of the Mt. Olive EUB Church in Hinkleville and attended the Christian Fellowship Church in Buckhannon. She worked as a secretary, bookkeeper and deputy at the Upshur County Sheriff’s Department from 1950-1962.  She then, worked as a secretary at WVWC from 1962-1978.

Mrs. Hinkle enjoyed singing in the choir and loved gardening, and to be surrounded by her flowers.

A private service will be held. Burial will be in the Buckhannon Memorial Park in Buckhannon.
