A free lunch will be held in Buckhannon on Friday, July 24, as a visiting Kentucky health center joins the community’s flood relief efforts.
Mountain Comprehensive Health Corporation, a fellow federally qualified health center serving Eastern Kentucky and Southwest Virginia, is traveling to Community Care to donate much-needed supplies for residents affected by the recent flooding. Its team will serve free hamburgers and hotdogs to anyone who is hungry at the Upshur County Senior Center parking lot, beginning at 11:30 a.m. until the food runs out.
“We are thankful for their generosity and willingness to travel to our community to lend a helping hand,” Community Care said. “This is what compassion and community are all about.”
The lunch is one of many relief efforts underway after flooding swamped Buckhannon and Upshur County earlier this week. Community Care is also offering free walk-in tetanus shots and collecting cleanup supplies for residents, first responders and volunteers working in flood zones.
