Buckhannon-Upshur split Big 10 action, falling 10-4 to Lincoln after eight errors led to 10 unearned runs. The Bucs bounced back with a 13-1, five-inning rout of Lewis County behind Jaxon Spratt’s 3-for-3 day with two homers and six RBIs.
Buckhannon-Upshur senior Jerin Westfall earned 2025-26 WVSWA All-State First Team honors after a standout season as Big 10 Player of the Year. He powered the Bucs to a 14-9 record, averaging 27.1 points and 12.2 rebounds while leading the team in assists and blocks.
West Virginia Wesleyan’s tennis teams were swept at Charleston on Saturday, with the men falling 5-2 and the women 6-1 in Mountain East Conference play. Wesleyan earned singles wins from Stefan Audrins and Timothe Plaza, and Renata Pozzobon.
West Virginia Wesleyan will suspend women’s lacrosse competition for the rest of the 2026 season due to insufficient participation. The six remaining MEC games will be recorded as forfeits, with no impact on the 2026 tournament field or the league’s NCAA AQ status.
West Virginia Wesleyan battled but dropped both games of Friday’s doubleheader to West Virginia State, 7-3 and 6-4. The Bobcats led early in the opener and rallied to tie game two, but the Yellow Jackets answered with timely extra-base hits and held on late.
