Four deaths, 130 new cases of COVID-19 reported in West Virginia on Saturday morning

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources announced Saturday that 130 new cases of COVID-19 have been identified in the Mountain State.

Four additional deaths have been attributed to the disease, according to the DHHR – a 70-year old male from Cabell County, a 38-year old female from Kanawha County, an 84-year old female from Fayette County, and a 77-year old female from Fayette County.

“The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources reports as of 10 a.m. on August 8, 2020, there have been 317,763 total confirmatory laboratory results received for COVID-19, with 7,563 total cases and 131 deaths,” according to a press release.

New cases were reported Saturday in Berkeley, Boone, Cabell, Clay, Doddridge, Fayette, Grant, Greenbrier, Hancock, Harrison, Kanawha, Lincoln, Logan, Marion, Marshall, Mercer, Mineral, Mingo, Monongalia, Nicholas, Preston, Putnam, Raleigh, Summers, Wayne and Wood counties.

About 1,823 West Virginia cases remain active, according DHHR data. Of the cases that are no longer active, 5,609 people have recovered and 131 have died. The daily percent positive was 2.47%.
