Upshur County Schools received a generous $1,000 donation from Don Nestor of the Foundation for Better Schools on September 26th to support the district’s Backpack Program, which provides weekend meals to students in need.

The donation comes at a critical time, helping the district continue the program until state funding arrives in October. The Backpack Program ensures that students have access to nutritious food over the weekend, supporting their ability to be present, prepared, and excellent in the classroom.

“We are incredibly grateful for the continued support from the Foundation for Better Schools,” said Athony McDaniels, Director of Child Nutrition and Wellness. “This contribution helps us bridge the gap and continue serving our students without interruption.”

The Foundation for Better Schools has been a longstanding partner in supporting student success across Upshur County. Their commitment to educational equity and student well-being continues to make a meaningful impact in the community.
