Figueroa and Dowell earn Honorable Mention All-State soccer honors

TENNERTON – The Buckhannon-Upshur Buccaneers put two players on the 2023 All-State Soccer Team.

Freshman forward Riel Figueroa and junior midfielder Christian Dowell both earned Honorable Mention honors.

The All-State Team is selected by the West Virginia High School Soccer Coaches Association in partnership with the West Virginia Sports Writers Association.

Figueroa led the Bucs in scoring with 23 goals while adding five assists.

Dowell was second on the team in goals with 10 while contributing two assists.

Both players earned Big 10 All-Conference First Team honors last week. The Region I Soccer Team hasn’t been released yet.

Wheeling Park, Spring Mills, Parkersburg, Woodrow Wilson, Morgantown and Hurricane all put two players on the First Team.
