Eugene Wayne Auskings

Eugene Wayne Auskings, age 82, of Buckhannon, WV, died Sunday, August 24, 2025, at his home.

He was born March 19, 1943, in Anmoore, WV, a son of the late Ernest and Virginia Maxson Auskings. On October 27, 1971, he married Armeta Wagoner Auskings who survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Anita Waynett King and husband David and Eugina “Gina” Suder and husband Charles all of Buckhannon; four step sons, Allen Wingfield of Buckhannon, Delmos Wingfield and wife Christina of Grand Ridge, FL, Daniel Wingfield and wife Vivian of Summerville, SC and Dale Wingfield and wife Crystal of Belington, WV; four granddaughters, Sydney King, Chloe Bonner and husband Logan, Shadie Suder and Ginny Riffle and husband Jerrad all of Buckhannon; seven step grandchildren, Kiley Rowan, Mark Wingfield, Michelle Manbeck, Billy Kinard, Michael Kinard, Natasha Hawk and Cortney Wingfield; one great-grandson, Jackson Riffle of Buckhannon; one great-grandson on the way, Jensen Wayne Riffle of Buckhannon; several step-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five siblings, Art Auskings, Margaret Beckner, Alice Smith, Mary Lee Burnside and Lawrence Auskings, Sr., and one half-sister, Varion Simons.

Mr. Auskings served in the U.S. Army. Before becoming a bar owner for over 55 years, he was a photographer for Channel 5 News and worked for Moore Business Forms.

The Kanawha Lounge was his life. He enjoyed going there daily, talking to the patrons, staff, and drinking coffee. In his younger years he enjoyed fishing and 4-wheeler riding.

Friends will be received for a Public Visitation Wednesday, August 27, 2025, from 3 PM to 8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A Private Funeral Service will be held for the family at a later date with Pastor Spencer Cunningham officiating and the Upshur County Honor Guard providing military honors.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the VFW Post 3663 (12 S. Kanawha Street, Buckhannon, WV 26201) or Immanuel Chapel Church (65 S. Kanawha Street, Buckhannon, WV 26201).
