Elmer “Brooks” Haymond

Elmer “Brooks” Haymond, 81, of Buckhannon, died peacefully at his home on Monday, January 8, 2024, following an extended illness.

He was born on March 23, 1942, in Ingo, WV, a son of the late William Ford Haymond and Lottie Isenhart Haymond.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Norma Powers Haymond. He is also survived by one son Douglas Brooks Haymond and wife Pam of Buckhannon; one daughter Stephanie Haymond Ward and husband Stephen of Volga; seven grandchildren: Melinda Lipscomb and husband Ed, Amberley Phillips and husband Josh, Trenton Ward, Brooksley Ward, Jadee Ward, Hunter Haymond, and Madison Haymond; three great grandchildren: Parker Lipscomb, Anna Lipscomb, and Gainer Phillips; one brother Russell Haymond of Rock Cave; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters: Reba Riffle and Reva Thornton; and seven brothers: Calvin, Claud, Ervin, Burl, Jerry, Roger, and Ralph Haymond.

Brooks was a US Army Veteran and served in Vietnam in 1965 and 1966. He was employed by Moore Business Forms for many years and later by Weyerhaeuser. Brooks enjoyed car shows and brought home many trophies with “Smoke,” his Tony Stewart Monte Carlo along with his Z06 Corvette. He enjoyed working in his yard and took pride in his landscaping.

The family would like to thank WV Hospice of Buckhannon for their compassion, care, and respect during this difficult time.

At the wishes of the deceased, the body will be cremated, and no public service will be held.
