D&E to host Sweetback Sisters Country Christmas Singalong Spectacular

ELKINS – The Sweetback Sisters are returning to Elkins, and this time they’re bringing their Country Christmas Singalong Spectacular to West Virginia for the very first time.

The event, hosted by the Augusta Heritage Center of Davis & Elkins College and designed to be entertaining for the whole family, will take place at 7:30 p.m. Friday, December 6 in Myles Center for the Arts, Harper-McNeeley Auditorium.

Now in its 11th year, this Christmas singalong tour has taken place annually in the northeastern United States to sold-out crowds, sometimes with as many as 800 people joining in the fun.

“As a Randolph County resident, I am very excited to be bringing the Country Christmas Singalong Spectacular to Elkins,” said band member and Augusta Heritage Center Artistic Director Emily Miller. “This tour is my favorite event of the year, and I’m delighted that Davis & Elkins College and Augusta partnered with the band to host a night at the college. I can’t think of a better way to kick off the holiday season than by singing in 200-part harmony with our whole community.”

The show is centered on Christmas music, with favorites such as “Winter Wonderland,” “Silent Night” and “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” as well as lesser-known songs including “Christmas Island” and “Beautiful Star of Bethlehem.”

The singing is punctuated by rounds of Christmas trivia in which audience members vie for prizes by answering Christmas-themed questions.

The audience will receive singalong booklets with lyrics so they can easily join in the singing.
