Davis & Elkins College Theatre and Film Program presents Peter and the Starcatcher April 10-13

Davis & Elkins College Theatre and Film Program is staging a magical, all-ages performance of Peter and the Starcatcher, directed by Aubrey Helene Neumann and running April 10–13 at the Harper-McNeely Auditorium on campus.

The Davis & Elkins College Theatre and Film Program is excited to present a magical performance of Peter and the Starcatcher, directed by Aubrey Helene Neumann. Performances will be held April 10th – 12th at 7:30 p.m. and April 13th at 2:30 p.m. in the Harper-McNeely Auditorium at the Myles Center for the Arts, on the campus of Davis & Elkins College. The show is intended for all ages, and community members are encouraged to attend.

Tony-winning Peter and the Starcatcher upends the century-old story of how a miserable orphan comes to be the “Boy Who Would Not Grow Up” (a.k.a. Peter Pan). A wildly theatrical adaptation of Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson’s best-selling novels, the play was conceived for the stage by directors Roger Rees and Alex Timbers, and written by Rick Elice, with music by Wayne Barker. From marauding pirates and jungle tyrants to unwilling comrades and unlikely heroes, Peter and the Starcatcher playfully explores the depths of greed and despair, and the bonds of friendship, duty and love.

Amelia Buettner, a freshman at D&E, takes on her first leading role as Molly Aster in the production. When asked to reflect on what she loves about acting at Davis & Elkins College, Buettner says, “My favorite thing about acting at D&E is the lovely theatre community. I believe I have truly made a family here.” She continues, “I identify with my character, Molly Aster, because she is a strong-willed, independent young girl.”
