David Lynn Burkhammer

David Lynn Burkhammer, age 61, of Volga, died Sunday, November 7, 2021, at the J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. 

He was born on September 18, 1960, a son of the late Darrell Floyd and Betty Jo Strader Burkhammer, who survives.  He was united in marriage on April 16, 1979, to Kathern M. “Kathy” Smith Burkhammer, who survives. In addition to his mother and wife, he is also survived by one daughter:  Katrinia and husband Jeff Lewis; two sons:  David L. Burkhammer, Jr. of the home and Jason Burkhammer and wife Danielle of Buckhannon; eleven grandchildren:  Cody Herbert, Edward Burnside, II, Erica Burnside, Kaylia Burnside, Tesla Lewis, Kaitlyn Williams, Christina Burkhammer, Jeremiah Burkhammer, Destiny Chidester, Paige Young, and Josie Rosencrance; one sister Edna Sue and husband Roger Daugherty of Pampa, TX; three brothers:  Darrell Eugene Burkhammer and wife Kathy of Camden, Bill Burkhammer and wife Molly of Weston, and Timmy Burkhammer and wife Kim of Weston; one aunt Clara Atchison; two uncles:  Gary Strader and wife Phyllis and Elwood Strader and wife Sandy; two sisters-in-law:  Hilda and husband James Bailey and family and Gladys and husband John Riley and family; and one brother-in-law Eugene Smith. 

In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by his paternal Burkhammer grandparents; his maternal Strader grandparents; his father- and mother-in-law Charles and Iris Smith; his brother- and sister-in-law Eddie and Pauline Smith; his paternal grandparents-in-law Nathan and Bessie Lattea; and his maternal grandparents-in-law:  Clemer and Millie Snyder.

David had been formerly employed by WV Glass, Louie Glass, and Audra State Park.  He also helped with many summer youth programs.  He loved camping, hunting, fishing, and riding his side-by-side.

The family will receive friends on Friday, November 12, 2021, from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM — the funeral hour, with Pastor Ed Lowther officiating.  Interment will follow in the Lanham Cemetery at Queens.
