Cyclist suffers minor injuries after being clipped by vehicle Saturday

BUCKHANNON – A cyclist suffered minor injuries after the bike she was riding was struck by a vehicle Saturday night on Island Avenue.

Buckhannon Police Chief Matt Gregory said a Brandy Knight, 37, was riding on Island Avenue in the area of Cook’s just prior to 9 p.m. when a vehicle passed her and clipped her handlebar, causing her to crash and hit her head on the pavement.

“We weren’t able to get a lot of details from the person on the bike about what the vehicle looked like, so this remains under investigation,” Gregory said Monday. “She hit her head on the pavement and had a laceration on her head from that. She had some other pain but refused medical transport to the hospital by Upshur EMS.”

Sgt. William Courtney is the investigating officer.
