Custom Cabinets has big week in Men’s Golf League

TENNERTON – Custom Cabinets had a huge week to take over first place in the Buckhannon Country Club Bob Cupp Memorial Golf League standings.

Custom Cabinets won a huge 22-12 decision over Highland Landscaping to leap frog from third place to the top spot with 76 ½ points.

High Point Construction remained in second place with an 18-15 win over UniFirst Corporation with 72 ½ points.

Sam’s Pizza moved up one spot from fourth place to third place after an 18 ½-13 victory over last week’s leader First Community Bank, who dropped from first all the way down to fifth.

Hank Ellis Insurance won an 18-16 decision over Lisa Cain Edward Jones to slide up one spot into fourth place.

In the other match of the week, Baker Tilly edged Feola’s Flowers by a 16 ½-16 score.

Mike Tenney of Baker Tilly took home Low Actual honors with a 37 while Tenney, Roger Abel of Custom Cabinets, Dave Alkire of High Point Construction and Brian McDaniels of Sam’s Pizza all tied for Low Net honors with 32s.

School bus crashes on Route 20 after hitting black ice; one child taken to hospital

A school bus carrying 25 students slid on black ice on Route 20 Wednesday morning and went off the road, according to Upshur County Sheriff Mike Coffman. All students were checked at the scene, and one child was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital with minor injuries.
