Lora Margaret Mills, age 87, of Excelsior, WV, passed away peacefully into the hands of Our Savior on October 7, 2026. She was born on April 22, 1939, in Elkins, WV. Margaret was the daughter of the late Sylvester P. and Geneva V. Bennett Robinson.
On March 15, 1957, she married Claudius Wayne Mills, who preceded her in death on June 8, 2021. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Jeffrey Wayne Mills, and one brother, Robert Robinson.
She is survived by one son, Kevin Mills and wife Denise of Buckhannon; three granddaughters, Shanda Hoover and husband James of Buckhannon, Elizabeth Quick and husband Jeremy of Buckhannon, and Jese Exline and husband Travis of Huntsville, Texas; grandson Wayne Mills and wife Brandi of Buckhannon; three great-grandsons, Nathan Hoover and girlfriend Madison Burnside, Maddux and Prescott Mills of Buckhannon; three great-granddaughters, Emma Quick, Catie Hoover and boyfriend Preston Lantz, and Laney Mills, all of Buckhannon; daughter-in-law Melodie Mills Snyder of Mill Creek; two step-granddaughters, Rachel Cuppari and husband Joe of Buckhannon and Sarah Godwin of Bridgeport; three step-great-granddaughters, Ariana, Isabella and Rylee Fogle of Bridgeport.
Mrs. Mills worked in retail and often shared fond stories of working at GC Murphy’s on Main Street, Buckhannon, and Kroger’s.
Faith was an important part of her life. She was a member of Nays Chapel Church and raised her family during her earlier years in life. For the past 40 years, she was also a faithful member and attended Christian Fellowship Church.
Margaret had a fondness for purses and roosters. Her collection of rooster memorabilia came from mentioning she liked them, but she never really asked for gifts of them. The collection seemed to grow over the years.
Margaret will be remembered for her warmth, quiet strength, and love and devotion for her family. The family will remember her love that shaped their lives.
Friends will be received Sunday, October 11, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Christian Fellowship Church. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, October 12, at Christian Fellowship Church with Rev. J. Edward McDaniels officiating. Interment will be at Sand Run Baptist Church, Excelsior, WV.
