Connie Frances Nutter

On Tuesday, March 18, 2025, Connie Frances Nutter, age 75, previously of French Creek, WV, passed away at the home of her daughter, Sheryl Short, in Weston, WV. Along with her daughter, her son Denver P. “Pete” Carpenter, Jr. was by her bedside as she entered into her eternal home in Heaven.

Born May 3, 1949, in Buckhannon, WV, Connie was the daughter of the late George B. Nutter of Spencer, WV and Iva G. Long Nutter of Akron, OH, and was the 11th of twelve children. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters Macel Chicoine and Burnice Nutter and brother Harold Nutter. Also preceding her in death was Kenneth F. Short, Jr., who she would jokingly say was her favorite son-in-law.

Connie is survived by son, Denver P. “Pete” Carpenter, Jr. and wife Misty and daughter, Sheryl A. Short; her grandchildren Tiffany “TJ” Short, Whitney Hammonds (Cody), Paul Carpenter (Amber), Kenneth “Bub” Short, III (Pam), Dylan Carpenter (Presley), Carlye Day and Chris Day; and her great-grandchildren Maleah Bennett, Elena Carpenter, Jebidiah Short, Cooper Hammonds, Weston Carpenter and Oliver Carpenter. Also surviving are her siblings Arnold Nutter, James Nutter, Sammi-Jo Dunphy, Stacel Mugavero, Naomi Heavner, Kay Fisher, Sue Keener and Terry Peabody. She is also survived by her step-son from a previous marriage, Christopher Alderman, many brothers and sisters-in-law and by several generations of nieces and nephews.

Being born into a large family taught her love, values and morals that she passed on to her children and their families. Living a very simple life, Connie treasured family time filled with laughter and lots of good food, reading and tending to her house plants. Above all, she valued her Christian beliefs and her relationship with her savior.

A special thank you to WVU Hospice for their kindness, compassion and professionalism in caring for our mom and granny.

Connie’s request for cremation will be honored and there will be no services at this time. Her family will gather at a later date to celebrate, remember and honor her.

Online condolences may be extended to the Nutter family at www.heavnerandcutright.com. The Nutter family has entrusted the Heavner and Cutright Funeral Chapel and Cremation Services with the arrangements.
