Community rallies together to host Annual School Supply Drive, now accepting donations

BUCKHANNON – As summer days draw to a close and the anticipation of a new school year heightens, the spirit of being a Buccaneer is on full display in Upshur County.

Three local businesses – Studio 7 Sun and Salon, Legendary Transport, and Back to Blends – have recently combined their efforts to ensure that children in Upshur County step into the upcoming school year equipped and confident.

This supply drive is asking the community to donate various school supplies for local students that include, but are not limited to:

  • Backpacks
  • 2-pocket folders
  • Writing supplies; pens, pencils, highlighters, permanent markers, crayons, etc.
  • Dry erase markers
  • Binders
  • Dividers
  • Index cards
  • Lunch boxes

Community members, parents and donors are encouraged to drop off items to the following locations across Upshur County, Studio 7 Sun & Salon at 150 Skyline Plaza, Legendary Transport at 646 Hall Road, and Back to Blends at 50 S. Kanawha Street.

But wait, there’s more! In collaboration with the supply drive, a gift basket full of various goodies from local businesses will also be raffled off. For every donation made, the donor’s name is entered into the raffle basket drawing.

Looking ahead: the last day to make a donation of school supplies is Sunday, August 13. Raffle winners will be announced and donations will be delivered to schools on Tuesday, August 15.

For any local businesses wishing to make a generous donation to the supply drive or the small business gift basket raffle, please contact Jessica Scott at 304-516-4222.
