Community raises funds to provide winter shoes and socks for Roanoke Elementary students

Stonewall Resort and partners will provide new shoes and socks for approximately 140 students.

Stonewall Resort and St. Matthew United Methodist Church, in partnership with a host of other local businesses and organizations, have worked to raise funds to purchase new shoes and socks for approximately 140 Roanoke Elementary School students, resort officials announced.

“The level of community support we receive each year for this project is always inspiring,” said Andre’ D’Amour, Stonewall Resort general manager. “We’re proud to partner with St. Matthew United Methodist Church and West Virginia American Water to provide needed shoes and socks to Roanoke Elementary students.”

D’Amour said this is the twelfth year the resort, through its Hometown Hospitality program, has worked to help meet the needs of the local community. Roanoke Elementary School is Stonewall Resort’s Partner in Education.

The resort will host a party on Tuesday, Dec. 16 for the students of Roanoke Elementary. Students will enjoy a holiday movie, meet with Santa, enjoy crafts and will be fit with their socks and shoes.
