City honors St. Joseph’s Hospital with proclamation for National Nurses Week and National Hospital Week

Buckhannon mayor Robbie Skinner presents a proclamation to Skip Gjolberg, president and chief executive officer of WVU Medicine St. Joseph’s Hospital, and other hospital staff in recognition of National Nurses Week and National Hospital Week.

BUCKHANNON — Buckhannon Mayor Robbie Skinner recently presented St. Joseph’s Hospital with a proclamation recognizing the dedication and hard work of its staff during National Nurses Week and National Hospital Week.

The proclamation, delivered on Monday, May 13, highlighted St. Joseph’s Hospital’s vital role in the community. Skinner praised the hospital’s professionals for their “caring hearts and giving spirits.”

“The hard-working staff of St. Joseph’s Hospital deserves universal regard and appreciation for keeping our community healthy,” Skinner stated in the proclamation. He urged all residents to express their gratitude for the hospital and its staff, who make quality healthcare accessible to the people of Buckhannon.

National Nurses Week, celebrated from May 6-12, carries the theme “Nurses Make the Difference,” while National Hospital Week, observed from May 12-18, features the theme “We are Healthcare.”

As Buckhannon joins the nation in recognizing the dedication of healthcare professionals, the proclamation stands as a reminder of the vital role that local hospitals and their staff play in ensuring the health and prosperity of communities across the United States.

Whereas,​ The City of Buckhannon is pleased to salute our hometown medical center: St. Joseph’s Hospital as it celebrates National Nurses’ Week and National Hospital Week; and,

Whereas,​ National Nurses’ Week is May 6th to 12th and National Hospital Week is May 12th to 18th. The Theme of National Nurses’ Week is “Nurses Make the Difference” and the theme of National Hospital Week is “We are Healthcare” and will be celebrated across the country; and,

Whereas,​ St. Joseph’s Hospital is staffed by professionals with caring hearts and giving spirits who are inspired by the love of Christ to provide our community with quality health care in ways which respect the God-given dignity of each person and the sacredness of human life; and,

Whereas,​ The hard-working staff of St. Joseph’s Hospital deserves universal regard and appreciation for keeping our community healthy.

Now, be it known that on this 13th day of May, 2024, I, Robert Neal Skinner, III, Mayor of the City of Buckhannon do hereby declare May 12th to the 18th of 2024, to be National Nurses’ Week and National Hospital Week throughout our City of Buckhannon, and urge all residents to express their appreciation for St. Joseph’s Hospital and its staff who make trustworthy, quality healthcare possible in our community.
