City: Public Hearing Notice for 2nd Reading of Sales Tax Ordinance

NOTICE OF RESCHEDULED PUBLIC HEARING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF BUCKHANNON AND OF PROPOSED ADOPTION OF ORDINANCE
BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BUCKHANNON

TO: All residents of the City of Buckhannon

Pursuant to Chapter 8, Article 11, Section 4 (b) of the West Virginia Code, as amended, notice is hereby given to all residents of the City of Buckhannon that the Council of the City of Buckhannon proposes the second (2nd) reading and adoption of Ordinance No. 433 of the City of Buckhannon, the subject matter and general title, and abstract of which more particularly appear in said Ordinance as “ORDINANCE NO. 433 OF THE CITY OF BUCKHANNON, AN ORDINANCE: 1) ESTABLISHING A MUNICIPAL SALES AND SERVICE TAX AND USE TAX; 2) ESTABLISHING A SPECIAL REVENUE FUND INTO WHICH MUNICIPAL SALES AND SERVICES TAXES AND USE TAX WILL BE DEPOSITED; 3) AMENDING THE CITY OF BUCKHANNON’S RETAIL B&O TAX TO REDUCE THE RATE OF TAX COLLECTED; and 4)
SETTING EFFECTIVE DATES OF THIS ORDINANCE AND THE ARTICLES THEREOF.”

The Council of the City of Buckhannon proposes the second (2nd) reading, passage and adoption of Ordinance No. 433 at the regularly scheduled City Council meeting to be held on Thursday, February 7, 2019, at 7:00 p.m. o’clock, at Buckhannon’s City Hall located at 70 East Main Street in Buckhannon, Upshur County, West Virginia. A reasonable number of copies of the proposed Ordinance No. 433 are on file at City Hall. Any member of the public may inspect Ordinance No. 433 during the regular business hours of City Hall.

All interested persons may appear at the February 7, 2019 meeting and be heard with respect to the City Council’s proposed adoption of Ordinance No. 433. The effective date of Ordinance No. 433 is March 9, 2019, with collection of the sales tax to begin January 1, 2020.
