City of Buckhannon announces meetings and events for the week of December 9

All meetings, unless specified otherwise, are open to the public and will take place in the Council Chambers at Buckhannon City Hall, located at 70 E Main St, Buckhannon, WV 26201.

Thursday, December 11

  • Water Board Regular Meeting, 7:30 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. – To participate virtually, join GoToMeeting via this link or call (872) 240-3212, access code 234-619-757. To see the meeting agenda, click here.

Friday, December 12

  • Bulky Goods Collection begins at 5:30 a.m. – Bulky goods collection for large items such as couches, chairs, mattresses, appliances, etc. All Buckhannon Waste Department customers are allowed four items per month and eight tires per year. You must call by Wednesday, December 10 to schedule a pick-up. Items must be at the curb by 5:30 a.m. on Friday to ensure pick-up.

Coming to the Colonial Arts Center

  • Now through December 13 – The CAC Gallery at the Colonial Arts Center is hosting “Luminescence,” a solo exhibition by Sikara Sokel. The CAC Gallery is open 4 to 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Sokel is a contemporary painter from Harpers Ferry, W.Va., and a 2024 graduate of Shepherd University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. She primarily works in oil, reimagining traditional portraiture through vibrancy, light and color.

  • Keep leaves out of the street as they can block stormwater drains and cause flooding.
  • Trash cans should be hidden from public view as much as possible during the week; place them at the curb the night before collection and return them within 24 hours after collection.

Utility Bill Payments: Pay utility bills online at Municipal Online Payments or by phone at 1-866-933-4026. Setting up an account allows you to monitor your utility usage.

Report Repairs or Concerns: To report issues such as potholes or damaged signs, please call City Hall during business hours to submit a work order or use the Citizen Engagement tool.
