Chidester-Deem resigns as interim head coach of WVWC XC and track and field teams

BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – Andrea Chidester-Deem has resigned from her duties as the interim head coach of the West Virginia Wesleyan cross country/track & field team, WVWC Athletic Director Randy Tenney announced Tuesday (Sept. 6).

Chidester-Deem joined the WVWC cross country/track & field staff in 2019 as an assistant coach. She was elevated to the interim head coach in January of 2022. Chidester Deem coached sprinter Ny’Tierra Hobbs to an NCAA qualification in the spring. Hobbs was named the Mountain East Conference Women’s Track Athlete of the Year. She coached Samantha Cash to a heptathlon crown at the MEC Indoor Championship. Cash was named MEC Field Athlete of the Year last season.

Kelsey Chambers has assumed responsibilities as the interim head coach for the cross country/track & field program. Chambers competed at Wheeling University, where she was a NCAA National Qualifier in cross country. The Oak Glen High School (W.Va.) graduate was a five-time West Virginia state champion in track and was the 2013 cross country state runner-up.
