Buckhannon City Council approved up to $15,000 in opioid settlement funds to certify three more peer support coaches for first responders. The program certifies first responders as coaches who help colleagues cope with the emotional toll of the job.

Buckhannon-Upshur High School released its third quarter honor roll for the 2025-26 school year. Students with a 4.0+ GPA earned Distinguished Honor Roll honors, while those with a 3.5–3.99 GPA made the Honor Roll.
Blonda Ray Dawson, 89, and Hilda Mae Dawson, 82, both of Buckhannon, died April 12, 2024, and October 1, 2024. A joint memorial service celebrating their lives, 67-year marriage, and faith will be held Saturday, April 18, at 2:00 p.m.
Buckhannon-Upshur’s softball and baseball teams are earning statewide attention, both landing at No. 7 in this week’s WV Metro News Class AAAA polls. The Lady Bucs have 44 points in the coaches’ poll, while the baseball Bucs hold 34 points in the broadcasters and writers poll.
