Buckhannon-Upshur lacrosse recap

WHEELING – The Buckhannon-Upshur Buccaneer lacrosse team opened their season with four road games, dropping all four.

The Bucs opened their season at Fairmont Senior losing a 14-3 contest.

They followed that up with a Saturday doubleheader coming up just short in games with Wheeling Park and John Marshall.

They opened the day with a low-scoring 4-1 setback to Wheeling Park then were edged by John Marshall by an 11-10 count.

They then had a competitive battle with Wheeling Central that they lost by a 12-5 score.

Against Fairmont Senior, Aidan Wilson had two of the three B-U goals while Luke Bohnsack had the other.

Bohnsack had a team-high 13 ground balls.

Buckhannon-Upshur keeper John Hayes made four saves in net for the Bucs.

In their clash with Wheeling Park, Clay Ware had the lone goal for the Bucs.

Bohnsack again led Buckhannon-Upshur in ground balls with nine.

Hayes made 10 stops in net for B-U.

In their one-goal setback against John Marshall, Ware tallied four goals, Nathan Smith had three, Justin Streets two and Kaleb Roby one.

Bohnsack had a team-high 10 ground balls.

Hayes collected 13 saves.

In their setback to Wheeling Central, Ware had two goals while Smith, Bohnsack and Tucker Hatfield each had one.

Bohnsack had a team-high 19 ground balls.

Hayes made 13 saves while Remmy Bonnett had one in net for the Bucs.

The Bucs were slated to have visited Preston this past Tuesday.

They will finally have their home opener Saturday with Musselman at 3 p.m.
