Buckhannon Upshur Camera Club announces 2024 Strawberry Festival photo exhibit guidelines

BUCKHANNON — The Buckhannon Upshur Camera Club has announced the 2024 West Virginia Strawberry Festival photography exhibit guidelines. 

All photographers of any skill level are invited to participate in this community exhibit.  Adult and youth photographers are invited to prepare photos to be displayed in the following classes: General, Monochrome, Nature, West Virginia and Animals. 

The entry fee for 6 photos or less is $15.  Youth entries require no fee. 

Special ribbons will be placed for People’s Choice, Queen’s Choice, Strawberry Teen’s Choice, King’s Choice, and President’s Choice. These ribbons are awarded during the event and will be hung after selections are made by Strawberry Royalty. Youth entries are eligible for cash prizes and the Founders Ribbon, in addition.

The BUCC thanks West Virginia Wesleyan College for their sponsorship of this exhibit. 

The deadline for entries is noon on Thursday May 9, 2024.  These can be dropped at Lanora’s Custom Framing in Buckhannon.  For additional information and an entry form, please visit: wvstrawberryfestival.com

The exhibit will be a part of the West Virginia Strawberry Festival and will be held in a new location at the WVWC gym. The exhibit will welcome guests on Thursday, Friday and Saturday of the event. 

The club invites all photographers across the region to participate. Cell phone photography is welcome.

School bus crashes on Route 20 after hitting black ice; one child taken to hospital

A school bus carrying 25 students slid on black ice on Route 20 Wednesday morning and went off the road, according to Upshur County Sheriff Mike Coffman. All students were checked at the scene, and one child was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital with minor injuries.
