Buckhannon Community Theatre raises the curtain on its 50th Anniversary season

Buckhannon Community Theatre is proud to announce its 50th Anniversary season. After a brief intermission due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, Buckhannon Community Theatre is ready to raise the curtain once more. The 2022 Season will consist of BCT: A 50th Golden Anniversary Celebration, Disney’s Frozen Junior, I Love You, You’re Perfect Now Change and Clue on Stage

The Golden Anniversary Event will celebrate fifty years of entertainment in Buckhannon. Buckhannon Community Theatre produced its first show in the summer of 1971 with Irving Berlin’s musical, Annie, Get Your Gun. This event will celebrate our history and the future with performances from the vast catalog of shows with the original casts as well as special guests and the awarding of the second Jim Knorr award. This will be the first presentation at the fully-renovated Colonial Arts Center.

Frozen JR. is based on the 2018 Broadway musical, and brings Elsa, Anna and the magical land of Arendelle to life onstage.  A story of true love and acceptance between sisters, Frozen JR. expands upon the emotional relationship and journey between Princesses Anna and Elsa.  This show will be entirely cast with youth performers and will be researched, rehearsed, and performed in a unique instructional summer-camp experience.

I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change is a musical comedy with book and lyrics by Joe DiPietro and music by Jimmy Roberts. It is the second-longest running Off-Broadway musical. I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change is presented in the form of a series of vignettes connected by the central theme of love and relationships. Despite the large number of characters, the show is typically performed with a comparatively small cast: the original Off-Broadway production uses a cast of four.

Based on the iconic 1985 Paramount movie which was inspired by the classic Parker Brothers board game, Clue is a hilarious farce-meets-murder mystery. The tale begins at a remote mansion, where six mysterious guests assemble for an unusual dinner party where murder and blackmail are on the menu.
