An Upshur County man faces domestic battery and witness retaliation charges after a woman told deputies he threatened her and slammed a door against her arm.

Buckhannon-Upshur fell 6-0 to unbeaten, top-ranked George Washington, but coach Rosie Shackleford praised the Lady Bucs’ fight, unity and renewed belief in one another. B-U returns home Thursday to face East Fairmont.

Brody Wright’s fifth-minute goal lifted Buckhannon-Upshur to a gritty 1-0 win over previously unbeaten Wheeling Central Catholic. Landon Wright made four saves as the short-handed Bucs secured a clean sheet and improved to 6-4-1.

Buckhannon-Upshur’s three varsity runners delivered big results at the Adidas Challenge, led by Gwendolyn Rogosky’s ninth-place finish in a 244-runner field. Isabella Bowers placed 27th and Chloe Lewis took 54th.

Buckhannon-Upshur placed 15th against a 36-team field at the Adidas Challenge in Cary, led by sophomore Mitchell Whitley’s 18th-place finish. Half of B-U’s 16 runners, including girls, set personal bests.
