A Strange Creek man faces three charges after allegedly shooting another man while hunting in Braxton County on Tuesday, according to the West Virginia State Police.
Arthur Allen Neff, 64, was arrested and charged with prohibited person in possession of a firearm, wanton endangerment and negligent shooting while hunting, the agency said in an October 14 press release.
State Police said investigators determined Neff accidentally shot the victim, a 42-year-old man who also lives in Strange Creek, while hunting.
The victim was flown to Ruby Memorial Hospital for additional care after emergency medical services initially transported him, according to the release.
Trooper First Class J.M. Posey and Senior Trooper A.L. Groves of the State Police’s Sutton Detachment responded to the reported shooting off Keeners Ridge at about 5:15 p.m.
“This investigation remains ongoing,” the State Police release states.
