Bobby Lee Dean, age 91, of Buckhannon, WV, died Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at Mountain Memories in Elkins, WV.

He was born August 3, 1932, in Buckhannon, a son of the late Gilford and Esta Gibson Dean. On March 2, 1962, he married Freda Louise Moreland who preceded him in death on February 7, 2021.

In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Tara Hyre and sister, Nancy Beer and her husband Robert.

Surviving are one daughter, Denise Hyre and husband Brent of Buckhannon; one son, Brad Dean and wife Mary of Sperry, OK; six grandchildren, Carly Dahlheim and husband Nichalos of Buckhannon, Jake Hyre and wife Amanda of College Station, TX, Kamden Dean and wife Katie of Skiatook, OK, Holly Monroe and husband Michael of Skiatook, Aaron Dean of Tulsa, OK and Chev Dean and wife Genevieve of FL; five great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mr. Dean was a member of the Faith Tabernacle Church in Buckhannon. He served in the U. S. Marines, Army, and Special Forces for over 40 years.

Friends will be received for a graveside service Sunday, August 20, 2023, at 2 PM at the Heavner Cemetery. Pastor Bryan Sinclair will officiate his service. The Upshur County Honor Guard will provide military honors at the gravesite.
