Betty May Trickett Jack

Betty May Trickett Jack, 94, of Buckhannon, W.Va., passed on Saturday, March 7, 2020, at the Barbour County Good Samaritan under the care of Mountain Hospice.

She was born on October 12, 1925, in Elkins, W.Va., a daughter of the late James Newton Trickett and Edith Roberta Tenney, Trickett, Alderman, Helmick.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, O. Herbert Jack, who died on May 12, 2006; one sister, Vera Maxine Trickett Taylor and husband, Dale Taylor; one granddaughter, Katherine Jack; one stepson, Dean O. Jack and one step-grandson, Dennis Gregory “Bojangles” Jack.

She is survived by three children, John Michael Jack and wife Dawn Marie of Crestwood, Ky.; Carolyn Lynne Phillips and husband Steven B. of French Creek, W.Va. and Herbert David Jack and wife Mariann of Buckhannon; one step-son, Dwain Philip Jack and wife Pat of Colorado Springs, Colo.; six grandsons, Thayer Jack and wife Romiley of Cincinnati, Ohio, Matthew Jack and wife Alisha of Ripley, W.Va., Jeffrey Winemiller of Buckhannon, Scott Winemiller and wife Davina of Bloomingdale, N.Y., Josh Winemiller and wife Amy of Summersville, W.Va. and Justin Jack and wife Ana of Elkview, W.Va.; two step-grandsons, Clark A. “Buzzy” Jack and wife Faye of Dailey, W.Va., Windel Jack and wife Barbara of Huttonsville, W.Va.; five step-granddaughters, Charlotte Wendorf and husband Ed of Homer, Mich., Sherley Jack of Triangle, Va., Doris Sharp and husband Claude of Marlinton, W.Va., Jerri Jack and Marjorie Kelley both of Colorado Springs; several great and great-great-grandchildren and two nephews, Robert Blaine Taylor and Roger Taylor both of Elkins, W.Va. 

Mrs. Jack worked in Baltimore, Md., during World War II. She worked in accounting and retired from Corhart Refractories.

She was a member of the Tennerton United Methodist Church and had attended since the 1950’s. She was active in the church choir and served on Key committees. Mrs. Jack was a member of the Floral Rebekah Lodge. Also, a former member of the Buckhannon Country Club and an avid golfer. She enjoyed bowling for many years.

Friends will be received Tuesday, March 10, 2020, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor Bob Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in the Buckhannon Memorial Park in Buckhannon.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mrs. Jack’s memory to the Tennerton United Methodist Church, 128 Tallmansville Road, Buckhannon, WV 26201.
