Basketball Lady ‘Cats romp past Penn State-Mont Alto in opener, 95-30

BUCKHANNON — The West Virginia Wesleyan Lady Bobcat basketball team got the 2023-24 season off with a victory Saturday, defeating visiting Penn State-Mont Alto 95-30.

Wesleyan put 18 players on the court and all but four scored.

Emma Witt and Charlotte Sherrill led the Lady Bobcats with 12 points each. Witt had a 3-for-4 field goal performance and completed 6 out of 7 attempts from the free throw line, and Sherrill posted 4-for-6 from beyond the three-point stripe.

M’laya Ainsworth added nine points, going 4-for-7 from the field that included one three-pointer. Desiree Roy had a perfect 4-for-4 from the floor to post eight points and Sydney Baird added seven points with a pair of field goals that included one three-pointer and a pair of free throws.

The Lady Bobcats are back in action Thursday, Nov. 16 for a 5:30 p.m. tip with Shepherd University at Rockefeller Center.
